Mekanisk installation, 5 x 1 x 0,5 m, bestående av 5 vitmålade podier, med replikor av skivspelare i vitmålad mdf och vinylskivor som roterar 6 varv/min. Verket On Display tar sin utgångspunkt i ett intresse för mode som identitetsskapande fenomen, där man tillåts uttrycka olika sidor av sig själv genom att gå in och ut ur olika roller och världar. Verket relaterar både estetiskt och konceptuellt till den klipp-och-klistra-kultur som finns inom samplings- och klubbvärlden, men också till hur man exponerar varor i en butik. En mer personlig aspekt av verket är att det utgör en dokumentation av mina kläder år 2003, en slags dagboksanteckning eller försök att bevara ett utsnitt ur en tid. Syftet med verket är varken enbart att föra fram en konsumtionskritik, eller att oreflekterat bejaka modeindustrin - snarare lämnas ämnet öppet och mångtydigt, relaterande till verklighetens komplexitet och betraktarens roll i tolkningsprocessen.

The piece On Display started with an interest in fashion as an identity creating phenomena, where one can investigate and express a range of various sides of the self by switching in and out of different roles and worlds.

The work relates aesthetically and conceptually to the cut-and-paste culture of the paper doll as well as the dj culture, and to how commodities are exposed in stores. Another aspect of the work is the documentation it constitutes, of the clothes that I wore during 2003. In this sense it becomes a sort of diary note, and pays tribute to collections and archives of all kinds.

The piece is neither a mere critique of the consumer society or the fashion industry, nor a contribute to it. It's an attempt to mediate a dualistic approach, an awareness of the complexity of the discussion: we are both spectators and creators of our contemporary society and culture.
